NDIS
JIG Music Therapy can work with participants who are self-managed and plan-managed. If your NDIS plan is agency-managed, please still speak with us to see if there's a way that we can support you.
Can I have music therapy if I'm an NDIS participant?
Yes! Music therapy is an allied health or 'therapeutic support'. If music therapy is going to help you meet your goals, it is deemed as a 'reasonable and necessary' service. You can request music therapy to be listed specifically in your next plan (see more information on how to prepare for your next plan review here) or simply choose to use your CB Daily Activities budget towards music therapy.

Is music therapy the same as sound therapy?
No, music therapy with a Registered Music Therapist, is not the same as sound therapy. NDIS will not fund sound therapy, music lessons or the purchase of musical instruments. However, the NDIS will fund music therapy delivered by an RMT if it will help you meet your goals.
RMTs understand how music can affect behaviours, movement, how people feel and interact, and how people think. RMTs plan, facilitate and evaluate music therapy programs tailored to people’s needs, to help them achieve their health and wellbeing goals and enhance their quality of life. RMTs support people of any age, ability or background.
